- Advice on driving safer for longer
Driving assessments will usually take about two hours but may be slightly longer or shorter than this depending on your needs.
The driving assessment has 2 main parts:
This will be completed either by telephone or a video consultation using Attend Anywhere.
It will include a review of medical and driving history; we may also ask questions about your physical, visual and cognitive abilities.
If you are unable to meet the visual standard, we will be unable to complete the in car assessment.
This part of the assessment may focus on whether a medical condition affects your ability to drive safely or if adaptations are necessary to enable you to operate the controls successfully. Assessments are conducted in the centre’s vehicles.
There are occasions when having completed our assessment process, we recommend people should not drive for safety reasons; this could be a permanent or temporary situation. We will discuss our recommendations with you on the day of assessment after the drive.
